I grew up in Marin County during the 60's and became extremely interested in Environmentalism and Science, especially learning from people like Jaques Cousteau and Jane Goodall.  I put my desk and made my "lab" with a chemistry set and microscope and happlily escaped into an another world.  I became a very active in outdoor sports, skiing, Mt. Biking and Backpacking.  I took all Science and Environmental Studies Classes in College. I very relunctantly chose to major in Civil Engineering to get a job.  My older brother chose that major and was doing quite well.  At the time, I supported the removal of the O'Shaughnessy Dam and restore the Hetch Hetch Valley, in the spirit of my idol, John Muir.  For the next 25 years after graduating, I built and designed large, both water and wastewater, infrastructure projects.  I still want the Hetch Hetchy Valley restored, but not until a replacement reservoirs(s) are built in a more suitable area where they are more suitable for recreation, (fishing and boating), rather than destroying a magnificent "Environmental Cathederal" of the Hetch Hetchy Valley.

Being both a passionate Environmentalist and a Civil Engineer with extensive hands on experience, including estimating and project management, I found a niche to design these improvements that are actually better for the environment.  If the plants and animals could vote- I'd win in a landslide, because today the construction of the infrastructure has become political, and doing nothing is making the Environment worse, not better.  I did not want to be a "one issue candidate". so I spent a lot of time on all the other important issues.  I learned that the people, the voters, are the boss, so I am committed to listening and having as many Town Hall meetings as possible to generate a list and track progress of problems and issues which need solutions.  I am bringing my own ideas to the table to this discussion, but am committed to get input from others- and then act- to make our County the best in the Nation.

This is a video I created when I ran in 2012.  I still support most of the content in this, and made more advancements on the water and transportation issues for my current campaign.
